How To Be Truly Smart

Ever watched the TV series 'Suits'? Yes... well I know you'll relate to this... If it's a No... then I urge you to watch it, go back to the beginning and watch all the series's... I'm sure they'll be available on Netflix or sky boxsets... most things are.

In a nutshell, I'm talking about a character in the show played by Gabriel Macht called 'Harvey Spector'... A bad ass but good guy lawyer.

Now I'm not normally one for quoting TV or even glamourising actors, but this guy has got it nailed... he plays an incredible role and there's plenty we can actually learn from his character that you can use in your daily lives.

The main one I want to focus on is:

Be smart... At everything!!!

The way you think

The way you act

The way you dress

The way you speak

How you treat people

The company you keep

The decisions you make

The things you buy

The life you lead

Another great smart trait is to introduce pauses into your life. When you make decisions about anything... take a short moment to play through the situation and outcome in your head. How do you see it ending, good or bad? If it's bad... you'll thank yourself you took that moment to think it through... It could even be as simple as pauses before saying something to someone that could hurt their feelings.  Flip the shoe on the other foot for a split second and imagine how you would react if it were being said to you.

These are the first steps to being smart... on all levels.

Being smart doesn't have to be seen as being arrogant... Although being smarter than the next does require a degree of arrogance, it's how you control it and express it that matters.

Learn to think what others are thinking or might think, their reactions, their comments, their comebacks, so that you can prepare yourself and your responses..

Learn to read body language to read people and how they act in certain situations.  Learn about 'tells'... most humans have them.  Recognise patterns in behaviour... watch scenarios play out from afar, watch how people interact, learn to identify commonalities.  The more you can master this, the more you can predict how other people with the same characteristics and body language will react so you can control situations.  Don't be the one to be controlled.

Get in tune first and foremost with yourself, understand who you are, where you are going, what you want from life, it's out there for you to get... not take... that would be arrogance!

Control and knowledge is power... Power for you to use to get out of life everything you dream of... whether it be money, cars, family, love... It works on all levels. Just don't become the guy that uses it to step on other good souls... no one likes a dooshbag.
