Old Dogs and New Tricks

The saying goes ‘You can’t teach an old dog new tricks’. That’s just BS. It’s about finding tricks that the dog is Interested in... with the right reward!

Such is life. You are unlikely to want to make a change in your life if that change isn’t to do something you truly want to do, something to enjoy, something meaningful. If the reward for change is aligned with our needs, then most people will find the motivation for change.

Expecting your life to be different without you being prepared to act and do something about it is like me saying I want to become world number one at tennis. Given that I don’t play the sport, I think it’s fair to say, that is never going to happen. So how can I expect to become world number one if I don’t, at the very least, play the sport socially/recreationally. Who knows, I could have a hidden talent.

And that’s the point, you could be missing out on reaching your full human potential just by not making changes, being open to change, accepting that failure is a good thing and inevitable along the way.

The only thing needed to create change is YOU! Even changing your thinking is change in itself. It’s the beginning of something bigger.  The more we think about something in a positive way, the more likely it is to manifest itself and come to fruition.

No matter how hold, or young you are, it is never too late to learn new skills, change careers, take up a hobby, travel, teach. What ever it is, don’t let your age be the thing that stops you because the only person that is giving you that reason for not doing it, is YOU!

Our careers are often laid out for us by our parents, grandparents, siblings, because we were not able to muster up the courage to break free and do the things that are rewarding and fulfilling for us as individuals.

If we are but on this planet for such a short time, why wouldn’t you want to maximise your time and truly realise your full human potential.

Create a better world for yourself!

Bert.
